What's on my design wall, sort of
My main project at the moment is a wedding present. I'm not a huge fan of Kaffe fabrics, but this collection made the most sense given the favorite colors of the bride and groom. This was the quilt before I quilted it. I'm currently attaching the last side of the binding.
I have 2 quilts that need to be quilted for my sewing group. One is out to be ironed before basted. No photo. The wedding quilt has been my priority, so other quilt projects are taking a back seat
But, the friend with whom I'm meeting with to work on the Crimson Christmas quilt came by last week and we began cutting the next section. I've gotten this far.
It's coming together quite easily, although not quickly. We did run into a bit of an issue. We bought this as a kit and for one color we weren't given enough fabric. The shop cut another piece, but it was too small! It would only have worked if you hadn't cut for that step yet. However, we figured out a work around. Whew!
The beginning of the week has a number of commitments, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have to sew. But as I have time, this is my plan (too ambitious for this week, but, hey, one can dream)
1. Finish wedding present including washing quilt, wrapping the gift, writing the card, etc. I did something new for me. When piecing the back, the center used all the leftover pieces made into a label. So the label is already quilted into the back. (Picture after gifted) I want to do this more often. We'll see how that goes. Since I normally do a pieced backing, this should be doable. Just requires me to be prepared. 😉
2. Finish sewing the next step on the Crimson Christmas quilt. It's going to be hard not to cut out the next portion, but I've already got a date on the calendar to meet up with my friends to cut the next section. Should help me with restraint. 😄
3. Work on more blocks of the bunk bed quilt. I'm up to 13 out of 28 needed and I would like to have this one completed and then quilt both quilts before Christmas when the grands will stay in the bunk bed room. This is the first one at the flimsy stage.
4. Move Top of the Stairs to a completed flimsy stage
5. Work on two leaders and enders projects: patriotic buckeye beauty (Alycia Quilts- Quiltygal) and the Four Patch Fun (Bonnie Hunter)
