Edie's Day
She saw it as a part of her responsibility. Her husband spent most of his days dealing with the problems of people. When you are a pastor, that is a significant part of your job. So, she said that she wanted to make our home a place filled with joy and laughter. And she did that well. I don't know if that was the primary reason, or if it had anything to do with the fact that she was born in April, but April 1st was almost a national holiday in our home. I learned later in life, that she would begin planning for her pranks weeks in advance. I remember the time that she called my dad and told him that I had probably broken my leg while jumping down the stairs. It was something he had repeatedly warned me not to do, telling me that if I broke my leg one day, "he wouldn't have much sympathy for me." And so, close to time for him to come home anyway, she called the church office, telling him that they would need to take me to the hospital, because it appeared ...
