Working on many projects

 I know some quilters are a "finish one project before you start another one." That's not me. 🤣 At least not recently. This week's work is a great example of that. On Tuesday I went to our bimonthly Quilting Bees get together. We make quilts to give to church members going through difficult seasons as well as to people whose homes have had significant damage. A group of men from the church volunteer their time to make necessary repairs. They have been going to the NC mountains for a week each month this year and it will be awhile before the work is done there!  Each trip they will work on 1-2 homes and so we send 2 quilts with them each month. For the last few months, I have been the primary quilter when tops are finished. But a new gal joined us and she will begin to help in that regard!! I have been quilting about 2-3 a month. I left the meeting with 2 quilts to quilt and one large quilt to piece the backing. Wednesday a friend joined me and we began cutting fabric...

It's become a bit of a tradition

 I'm blessed beyond measure! We have 2 sons, 2 precious daughters-in-love and 12 grands. Yes, 12!!! One son and family live nearby and one son and family live across the US. The son that lives nearby has 4 daughters and 3 sons. When we travel west, I try to bring a project I can work on with that granddaughter as she enjoys handcrafts. One of our first projects was a jelly roll race.  With the granddaughters who live nearby we've started the tradition of making a quilt together when they turn 12.  It actually began when the grands who live nearby all "helped" me sew a quilt for their mom's brother and wife who were expecting their first. All except for the littlest sewed at least one seam. They were so excited to give it and began asking if we could do that again.  The oldest granddaughter who lives nearby made a quilt from a layer cake that had horses (her passion) and now the 2nd oldest girl has sewn hers.
