Some things never change....

You probably have heard the saying "some things never change." You may have used it to express some facet of someone's character that remains the same, no matter what the circumstances or possibly situations that are the same worldwide. I laughingly thought of that expression the other day as I opened up the microwave to heat up something for lunch and yes, found my coffee from the day before. ;-) Switzerland, US, doesn't matter. No matter where I am, while the coffee is reheating, I go to do something else and promptly forget that I put it in the microwave until I'm ready for some coffee again. And then I often start the process over again. At least until I open the microwave door. I guess that shouldn't surprise me. Just because I've moved locations, it doesn't make me a different person here than I was when I lived in the US. My surroundings may have changed. My home may have changed, but I'm still me. I still have the same strengths,...

Visiting London

"So, do you want to go to London for the weekend? I have to be there on business for Friday and we could stay the weekend." When we moved to Switzerland, the hope was that occasionally, I would be able to go along for the ride. And this time I did. I am very grateful for this opportunity. London certainly isn't a place we would visit "for the weekend" while we live in the states! We left Zürich Friday morning, arriving at Heathrow late morning. Bob had given me a map for the "Tube," and shown me on a map where the hotel was located. The tube (underground) is very easy to navigate and I had no difficulty getting to the hotel, checking in and then finding the British Museum. (Having ticket machines and signs in English helped greatly!) The main things that I desired to see at the British Museum were the Rosetta stone, The Royal Standard of Ur, the Sutton Hoo exhibit as well as their extensive Egyptian cultures collection.
