Some things never change....
I laughingly thought of that expression the other day as I opened up the microwave to heat up something for lunch and yes, found my coffee from the day before. ;-) Switzerland, US, doesn't matter. No matter where I am, while the coffee is reheating, I go to do something else and promptly forget that I put it in the microwave until I'm ready for some coffee again. And then I often start the process over again. At least until I open the microwave door.
I guess that shouldn't surprise me. Just because I've moved locations, it doesn't make me a different person here than I was when I lived in the US. My surroundings may have changed. My home may have changed, but I'm still me. I still have the same strengths, the same weaknesses, the same likes and dislikes. I still leave my coffee in the microwave.
But it got me to thinking of character. It does not matter where we live, Switzerland, the US or Tibuktu for that matter. It is not the external circumstances that matter. Instead it is our response to them that is important. It is not where we are, it the choices we make. Day in, day out. One at a time. One after another.
Lord teach me to choose wisely.
