Oh good! It's red!!!

Since I first learned of the concept of leaders and enders,  I began incorporating them into my sewing. At first not with a great plan. But that's progressed with time.

First I saw the value regarding having something already under the foot when I added the next pieces in. Rarely does anything get grabbed down towards the bobbin.

But the real value comes from basically making a second (or third or fourth or fifth 🀣) while sewing your up your primary project. At the moment I have 5 leaders and enders going

1. The second bunk bed quilt. (Pictured is the first one while I was working on it.) I will need to cut more pieces for this soon as I only have one block cut.

2. County Clare. This year's l/e challenge from Bonnie Hunter. I have quite a few blocks done, but not enough for the size I want to make. I'm at the point I need to cut some more scraps the correct size

3. A quilted bag made of selvedges to carry rulers in when going on a retreat or to our Quilting Bees group. I like to bring my stripology ruler and it's easier if it's in something sturdy. (No pic!)

4. Disappearing pinwheels. I'm having great fun! I have quite a few blocks done, but didn't photograph any more of them as my design wall has been full.

5. Patriotic quilt. This is a block that I first saw on Alycia Quilts. I haven't decided if this will be donated or become a sofa quilt for us. πŸ™‚ BUT when I saw the color for this month on soscrappy is RED, I knew this will be my main l/e project this month. I need to make a number of them with red corners.

My main focus has been completing this quilt as I need to use it as a demo to teach some new quilters how to attach bindings to a quilt. My goal is to have it all quilted by Sunday night. Currently piecing a back

Then it will be onto a totally different seeing project that had to be done very soon! But that's a post for another day.😁

I love all your L/E! The rail fence is very pretty and I'm sure you'll finish in time for your demo. :)
All of your projects look great! For me, the key to leaders and enders is having several pieces precut and ready to go under the needle. Looks like you're really successful with that!

I got it quilted this afternoon. Cutting the binding this evening. I'll attach a bit of it, but leave 3 sides unattached to demo.

So very true! I think that's why I keep so many running at any time. Then I don't get bored in cutting too many of the same things πŸ™‚

I relate to your l/e -- I often have more than one at a time. And, sometimes my l/e is actually sewing blocks together. Recently I've fizzled out a bit on keeping units to sew together as l/es. Yours look great.

Leaders and enders is such a great way to make progress on a project that has a lot of piecing. Most of my Bonnie Hunter mysteries only get finished because I do them as a leader and enders project.

You have some really pretty blocks going on there. Love how you put the rail fence blocks on point.

Thank you. The decision to sew the rail fence on point was a collaboration with friends. I think it added greatly to the final design
