I'm a 110

If you are a parent still raising children at home, you know that it is often much easier to do things yourself rather than teach your child how to do them or have them help you. But seeing life from this side of raising children, I can tell you that every effort you make to train them is well worth it.

One of the advantages of having your adult children either live with you or live in the house while you live abroad, is that they are so very helpful! They mow the lawn without being asked anymore, help you move furniture, install curtain rods for you, explain how to operate the DVD player, provide IT assistance when necessary, call to see if you need anything at the grocery store on their way home, clean the house, do the laundry, help with or even do the cooking.

Which is why I can tell you that I am a 110. Not that I am 110. I may soon be a grandma, but I'm not that old!

For quite some time we had discussed replacing our water heater, which was located in the attic directly above the upstairs bathrooms, with a tankless water heater, both to save on heating costs and to remove the possibility of flooding from the attic down. There was also the issue of low water pressure inside the house that we had hoped to address at the same.

Although I no longer remember why we decided that now was the right time, Bob asked Steven while he and Dawn were living in our place if he would be interested in the job and he agreed. Along with some expert help from Justin and his dad, they were able to install 2 tankless heaters, one upstairs and one downstairs. So now we can set the water temperature as we like. Bob likes his shower at between 103-106 and I enjoy it at 110.

So while it's more difficult and often frustrating as a parent to patiently show and train a young child how to empty the dishwasher and set the table, how to water the plants and sweep the walk or show an older child how to operate power tools, dig holes for trees or irrigation trenches, how to change a car tire and balance a checkbook, don't take the easy way out. You'll be glad you did and eventually they will as well. You might be singing their praises as you set the water temperature to take a shower.
