She's makin' a list, checkin' it twice....

Like my mom, I'm a list maker. Mom had lists for everything. A list of what you need to take when you go camping. A list of typical foods she bought on a weekly basis. A list of food in the freezer. A list of everyone's birthday. A list of things to remember to do before you left on vacation. (Canceled the paper? Turned down the heat? Arranged for the mail?) David Allen had nothing on my mom.

I've borrowed many of her lists. My camping list was started off of her list and modified for my family. There is a list of projects that I want to complete. A list of books I've loaned out. I have a list stored on my computer that is the basics of things that I take when I travel. It includes things that I don't use every time (i.e. sleeping bag), but it is a good, complete list, that if I'm careful to follow, usually means I have all that I need.

Since I've begun to travel internationally, I have added a new section. It lists items like: tour book, destination maps, passport, foreign currency, voltage adapters, etc. And since I'm returning to the states tomorrow for Joel and Jenn's wedding, I printed out a copy of my "individual packing list" this morning. I did laugh when I crossed off "foreign currency." Yep. Got it. $27 plus change. Should buy me dinner at JFK, don't you think? Okay. At least a coffee and a hot dog.
