Rehearsal
We found out that afternoon that Pastor Davey was ill, and might not be able to do the wedding on Saturday. What a blessing that Pastor Loftis was already scheduled to lead the singing and was singing a duet himself, so he just easily stepped into dual roles. God knows. We plan, but HE knows what's coming that we don't even prepare for. So glad that we can trust our every step to Him.
Personally I was very glad that Dawn and Steven recited their vows at the rehearsal, as it allowed me to get teary-eyed there rather than on the wedding day itself! (Not that I cry easily. Oh, no! Not me!!)
It won't be that long until he's doing this again, only next time it will be with his bride on his arm.
Amazing what changes a year can bring.
I had no idea at that rehearsal dinner that I would become the mother of two wonderful sons. Or that we would leave California to move to North Carolina and then to Switzerland. I had no idea that I would be homeschooling for many years. I had no idea of so many things that were going to transpire after I said "I do." Dawn and Steven have many surprises coming.
I am so grateful though that none of it was or is a surprise to my Lord. My every step has been ordered by Him. Every situation that I have encountered has been allowed by His gracious hand. And everything is just preparation. Preparation for that great wedding supper that I will celebrate with the Lamb. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. May I be doing my part to prepare.
