Cooking with a cake mix

Okay, this post is out of order as I have not completed the time we spent with the guys and Dawn. I'm still awaiting some photos to do that, so until then, I'll give you a current adventure.

Bob's favorite desserts in the world are anything made with lemon: lemon meringue pie, lemon tarts, lemon cookies, and now that we've moved to Switzerland the Zitronen Cake or Lemon cake. The bakery in town makes a great one, but it's small and cost CH 11 (these days that about $11), so I thought I would experiment with cake mixes(CH 4) that I have seen at the grocery store.

Of course, whenever I buy a mix here, there is always the problem of understanding the directions. Which means I go to a free online translation service. Thought you might like to get a taste of that result. (sorry, couldn't resist!)

"Paste baking mixture into a mixing bowl give, 150 g soft butter, 3 eggs prepare and 1dL milk add, with handruehrgeraet (agitating broom) on highest stage in approximately 3 minutes to a smooth past process.

Fill the baking tin and bake paste into the easily greased, bemehlte form give, smooth-paint and on the rust into the baking-oven push (furnace attitude and baking time: see above) Cut about 1 cm after approximately 15 minutes baking time with a pointed measurer of the length in the center deeply.

Glaze 10 minutes in the form to be located let the baked cake, from the form solve and on cakes the lattice plate. Glaze mixture with 2 Essl. hot water smooth-agitate and evenly over the still warm cake distribute."

No problem. Piece of cake.

Oh sorry, really bad pun. Bob's not around; someone has to make them, gnow? (Rhymes with how. I have no idea how to spell that, it's Swiss German for "right?")

Anyone want to come over for some lemon cake and coffee?
